Looking west across water that is now entirely reclaimed and redeveloped, first by the New Docks and latterly with shopping centres. The immediate foreground is now Mayflower Park. Judging from the dress of the lady and children, this looks an early image. The Stella Memorial visible in the background was erected in 1900 and the image must have been taken soon after.
